Read More Abstract:The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) pandemic has negatively affected the medical services,particularly cancer diagnosis and treatment, for vulnerable cancer patients. Although lung cancerhas a high mortality rate, monitoring and following up of these patients can help to improve diseasemanagement during the pandemic. Telemedicine has proven to be an effective method of providinghealth care to these patients. As a result, the purpose of this study was to identify telemedicineapplications in the management of lung cancer patients during the COVID‑19 pandemic. In this scopingreview, studies published in online scientific databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMedbetween January 1, 2020 and September 1, 2021 were systematically searched and screened. Thestudies were chosen using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The bibliometric informationand technological aspects of included studies were collected using a data extraction form and thedata was analyzed using the content analysis approach. A total of 68 articles were found, from whichfour articles were finally selected based on specific inclusion/exclusion criteria. Real‑time consultationwas one of the most common applications of telemedicine to deliver health‑care services to cancerpatients. Health‑care providers used applications such as Zoom, Facetime, WeChat, and e‑mail,as well as devices including PCs, phones, and smartphones to provide real‑time consultation topatients via videoconferencing, phone calls, and messaging, as well as store and forward consultationvia e‑mail. Telemedicine in the COVID‑19 pandemic provides health‑care services to lung cancerpatients at their homes by enabling physicians and patients to communicate in real time. Severaltelemedicine services are still unavailable for patients with lung cancer. As a result, health experts,politicians, and entrepreneurs must pay special attention to this issue.

Read More BACKGROUND: The objective of the study was to analyze and determine statistically significantimpact of the COVID‑19 on clinical load of plastic and reconstructive surgery practices.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The retrospective analysis and comparison of the number of patientsvisiting to outpatient clinic, number of patients admitted, number of patients operated in the plasticand reconstructive surgery department during the COVID‑19 pandemic months of January 2020–June 2020 with the same months of preceding non‑COVID‑19 year was done. The data obtainedwere tabulated in Microsoft Excel spread sheet and the statistical analysis done using MedCalcstatistical software.RESULTS: The mean ± standard deviation of patients attended in outpatient department (OPD),admitted in inpatient department (IPD), emergency surgeries performed, and elective surgeriesperformed during ‑COVID‑19 versus COVID‑19 pandemic period is (651.167 ± 310.42 vs.212.5 ± 307.591), (83.5 ± 16.263 vs. 34.333 ± 53.74), (5.167 ± 4.243 vs. 3.333 ± 4.95),and (74.333 ± 28.284 vs. 40.833 ± 60.811), respectively. The difference in means is highly significantstatistically in the number of patients attended in OPD, admitted in IPD, and elective surgeriesperformed during pre‑COVID versus COVID period; however, the difference in the means is notstatistically significant in the number of emergency surgeries performed during pre‑COVID versusCOVID period.CONCLUSION: The COVID‑19 pandemic has significantly reduced the number of patients attended inOPD, admitted in IPD, and elective surgeries performed in the department of plastic surgery. However,there is a reduction in number of emergency surgeries but statistically insignificant. The strategy isto use telemedicine portal e‑Sanjeevani services for OPD, encourage admission of patients withreverse transcription polymerase chain reaction negative for COVID‑19, and perform reconstructiveand esthetic plastic surgery operative procedures using COVID‑19 appropriate precautions.

Read More INTRODUCTION: Many women refuse to exercise during pregnancy due to lack of awareness andnot receiving training. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the effect of group andtelemedicine education on exercise during pregnancy by using the health belief model (HBM).MATERIALS AND METHODS: This quasi-experimental study was carried out in 2019 in Zahedan,and a total of 135 pregnant women participated in it. Samples were randomly assigned to the followingthree groups: group training (n = 45), telemedicine (n = 45), and control (n = 45). Group training waspresented in three sessions, and the telemedicine group received the educational content throughmobile applications. The samples completed the HBM questionnaire before and 6 weeks after theintervention. In addition, within 6 weeks after the intervention, they completed the exercise activityschedule. SPSS software Ver. 16 (IBM Corp, Armonk, NY, USA) was used for analysis, and datawere analyzed by ANOVA, Tukey’s post-hoc test, Kruskal–Wallis test, and Mann–Whitney test.RESULTS: After intervention, the scores of HBM constructs and exercise levels in group training,telemedicine group, and control group, respectively, were as follows: perceived susceptibility25.91 ± 3.24, 25.51 ± 1.97, and 22.55 ± 3.78; perceived severity 27.48 ± 2.27, 25.13 ± 2.29, and22.51 ± 3.88; perceived benefits 27.28 ± 2.97, 25.68 ± 3, and 22.8 ± 3.05; perceived barriers10.69 ± 2.69, 10.66 ± 3.19, and 14.17 ± 3.14; cues to action 24.71 ± 4.35, 23.9 ± 2.48, and22.84 ± 3.02; self-efficacy 26.17 ± 3.05, 25.2 ± 2.82, and 22.51 ± 3.38; and exercise levels70.99 ± 20.43, 56.51 ± 21.99, and 37.62 ± 29.66. Group training and telemedicine led to significantimprovement in all HBM constructs and exercise levels (P < 0.05, P < 0.0001, and P = 0.003,respectively). Group training provided more improvement than telemedicine in the scores of perceivedseverity (P < 0.0001), perceived benefits (P = 0.001), cues to action (P = 0.02), and mean exercisetime (P = 0.001).CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that the HBM is a proper model for exerciseeducation in pregnant women. It is recommended to use HBM as a group training and telehealth inpromoting the rate of exercise in pregnant women.
