Read More BACKGROUND: Caring for brain dead patients is the heaviest of duties for nurses, and despitetremendous stress, there are no theories/models to support nurses in this situation. This studydesigned a supportive model for nurses to provide care for potential organ donors.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This qualitative study was conducted in two stages. In the firststage, semi‑structured interviews with 31 nurses and other stakeholders, observation and fieldnotes continued until data saturation, (on 2018), were analyzed using continuous and comparativeanalysis through Corbin–Strauss method. In the second stage, theory synthesis of Walker and Avant’sstrategies for theory construction (2011) was used to design a supportive model/theory. The theorysynthesis includes three stages: (i) selection of focal concept (the concept of “moral obligation toprovide holistic care until the last minute” was selected); (ii) review of studies to identify the factorsrelated to focal concept relevant studies (42 articles were reviewed, statements and conceptsrelated to focal concept were then extracted and classified, and their relations were specified);and (iii) organization of concepts and statements within a relevant general and effective manifestationof the phenomenon under study which led to developing of a model.RESULTS: In this supportive model/theory, “improving psychological security and empowerment”was conceptualized within the conceptual framework. This supportive model entails three maincomponents, including (i) informational and educational support, (ii) systematically support,and (iii) management support.CONCLUSIONS: According to the results, nurses with moral obligation to provide holistic carewere faced with several challenges. Therefore, it is recommended that the healthcare system takesupportive proceedings for nurses in various fields of the care for brain dead patients to resolveeducational, moral, and legal challenges. This supportive model is essential for maintaining thenurses’ health, increasing the quality of nursing care and the health of potential transplant organs.

Read More INTRODUCTION: Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) play a significant role to providehumanitarian services in natural hazards. However, few studies have been conducted on thecoordination models of NGOs. Using these models, NGOs are expected to act along with otheragencies to provide unified and effective humanitarian’s services. The present study aimed to identifythe published coordination models of NGOs.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This systematic review was conducted from October to November2017. Electronic source, including PubMed, Web of Science, ProQuest Research Library, andScopus were examined. All English articles published in journals or presented at conferences wereincluded in the study. Nonjournal and irrelevant articles were excluded from the study. Furthermore,papers which were not available as a full text and published in languages other than English werealso excluded. Thematic analysis technique was used to analyze the articles.RESULTS: From 871 documents which captured in initial search, only 7 studies identified as eligiblearticles for extract 8 coordination models of NGOs in disasters and emergencies including: (1) Sphereproject, (2) Cluster approach, (3) Code of conduct, (4) Decentralized approach, (5) National DisasterResponse Framework, (6) Conceptual integrated NGO collaboration framework for communitypostdisaster reconstruction, (7) Model of temporal coordination of disaster response activities,and (8) Collabit application.CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review identified eight proposed coordination models that havebeen implemented internationally, nationally, and locally in natural hazards. However, these modelsare not enough, and there are some gaps between what is it and what should be. More effective andefficient models and strategies are needed to increase the effectiveness of coordination activitiesat all levels of community. These results should serve policy‑makers and administrators of NGOsdelivering humanitarian services during and postnatural hazards to choose from a number of optionson how to coordinate their efforts.
