Read More BACKGROUND: Non‑technical skills as a complement to technical skills have become increasinglyimportant in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation, and teamwork is one of the most prominent of theseskills. Because of the limited number of tools introduced and validated for measuring teamwork inresuscitation, this study was conducted to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of theTeamwork Scale in Resuscitation (TSR).MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was a sequential exploratory mixed‑method study and wasconducted between March 2020 and April 2021 and in two phases. In the first phase (qualitative),semi‑structured interviews were performed with resuscitation team members who were selected usinga purposeful sampling method with maximum variation in terms of experience, level of education,age, and gender. Using directed qualitative content analysis, the data were analyzed and the primaryitem pool was developed. In the second phase (quantitative), assessing face, content, and constructvalidity as well as reliability via the internal consistency and stability, the psychometric properties ofthe instrument are evaluated.RESULTS: The initial tool consisted of 54 items; after assessing the face validity, ten items wereremoved during content validity, and the final tool consisted of 44 items and three main categoriesincluding the essential prerequisites for resuscitation, leadership, and teamwork, which was scoredbased on a 5‑point Likert scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The convergent validity andconcurrent validity of the tool were confirmed. The reliability of the instrument was also confirmedusing Cronbach’s alpha test and re‑test and the intra‑class correlation coefficient (ICC) between raters.CONCLUSION: The validity and reliability of TSR for measuring teamwork in resuscitation ina simulated environment are approved. Further studies are suggested for different contexts ofresuscitation and with trained raters to evaluate its use in real resuscitation situations.

Read More BACKGROUND AND AIM: Given the absence of a scale specially designed to measure willingnessto mobile learning (m‑learning) in medical sciences students, the present study was conducted todesign and evaluate the psychometric properties of “willingness to m‑learning” scale for medicalsciences students.METHODOLOGY: The study was carried out as a mixed‑method study in two phases at SavehUniversity of Medical Sciences in 2019. Phase one was a qualitative study to elaborate on the students’perception of m‑learning. Then, the statements were extracted, and statement pool was completedthrough reviewing the text. In the second phase, the psychometric properties including face, content,and construct validities (using explorative factor analysis), internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha),and test–retest reliability (intercluster correlation test) were measured. A total of 482 students whowere selected randomly participated in the second phase. Data analysis was done with MAXQDAsoftware (VERBI Software 2019, Berlin, Germany) for qualitative data and SPSS 19 software(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) for quantitative data.RESULTS: Based on qualitative content analysis and literature review, 92 statements were extracted.After checking face and content validity, 55 statements remained in the study. Construct validity of thequestionnaire based on explorative factor analysis removed 10 more statements and the remaining 45statements were categorized into nine factors, namely technophilia, perceived attraction, perceivedease, perceived conflict, self‑management, attitude, behavioral intention to use, educational use,and efficacy of m‑learning. Reliability of the scale was obtained as 0.95 based on Cronbach’s alphaand stability was checked using test–retest method (intercluster correlation coefficient; r = 0.92).CONCLUSION: Willingness to m‑learning scale had an acceptable reliability and validity in medicalsciences students. Therefore, it can be used for medical sciences students for improve learningand education.

To educatethe public about safety effectively, determinants of safe behavior must be addressed. Personalityconstructs are among the most important determinants of safe behavior. One of the personalityconstructs that has been studied recently in relation to accidents is locus of control. The mainaim of this study was designing, validating, and determining the reliability of safety locus ofcontrol scale. Materials and Methods: This study was a descriptive, cross‑sectional study. The“forward–backward” procedure was applied to translate safety locus of control scale (Jonesand Becker 1985) from English to Persian. To determine the scientific validity of the scale , facevalidity and content validity by expert judgments were used. Internal consistency was determinedusing Cronbach’s α‑coefficient. Questionnaires were distributed to a group of 400 workers fromdifferent parts of Isfahan Steel Company. Finally, 317 workers completed the questionnaires.Exploratory factor analysis was performed with software SPSS13, and confirmatory factoranalysis was performed with software LISREL8.8. Results: The exploratory factor analysisresults revealed that the three components of the items can be extracted from the scale includinginternal control (4 questions), environmental and equipment control (4 questions), and chanceand fate (4 questions). Confirmatory factor analysis using maximum likelihood estimation resultsindicated that the data had good fit with three‑component scale and fit indices were acceptable:c2∕df=3.96, df=41, c2=120.59, RMSIA=0.080, 95% Confidence Interval=0.64–0.097, CFI=0.96,GFI=0.94, AGFI=0.89. The internal control components and equipment and environmentalcontrol were negatively correlated with each other (P≤0.05, r=−0.41). Also, a weak correlationbetween chance and fate and environmental and equipment control was seen (P≤0.05, r=0.31).Conclusion: In most studies, designing a scale and determining its validity and reliability iscostly and time consuming. The available reliable and valid scale leads to reduced costs andaccelerated research. In other words, duplication will be avoided. The scale obtained in this studycan be used in safety and industrial psychology research.
