Read More BACKGROUND: Job satisfaction is one of the most important issues related to human resources inthe organization which can reduce organizational productivity. In this regard, occupational health is animportant science related to the health of the workforce in any organization, paying attention to it will helphealth promotion. The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between the status ofoccupational health management and job satisfaction among farmers with a health promotion approach.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross‑sectional study was conducted in 2020. The number of209 farmers from all villages of Zabol was included by census method. Data were collected usinga researcher‑made questionnaire that consisting of three sections of demographic information,occupational safety and health status, and standard job satisfaction questionnaire. At first, the validityand reliability of the questionnaire were evaluated. In addition, 5–10 staff working in Agricultural JihadOrganization were asked about the content, clarity, and simplicity of the questionnaire terms. Contentvalidity index and content validity ratio indexes were calculated as 0.68 and 0.83 for occupationalhealth management and 0.69 and 0.83 for job satisfaction questionnaires, respectively. Instrumentreliability was also assessed using the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, which was 0.872. Finally, afterverifying the validity and reliability of the instrument, a questionnaire was used to collect the researchdata. Shapiro–Wilk, Wilcoxon, and Spearman correlation tests were used to analyze the findings.The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version 19. Armonk; NY, USA: IBM Corp.RESULTS: The results of the study indicate that occupational health management was at a moderateto a high level (3.701) and job satisfaction (3.381) was at a moderate to a high level. The standardregression coefficient between occupational health management and job satisfaction was obtainedas 0.571. With a confidence of 95%, it can be stated that occupational health management in Zabolcity under the supervision of jihad‑e‑agriculture organization has a significant impact on farmers’job satisfaction. In addition, the research findings confirmed a positive and significant relationshipbetween occupational health management and job satisfaction of employed farmers and showed thatthe implementation of occupational safety and health programs in the jihad‑e‑agriculture organizationcan affect the job satisfaction of farmers.CONCLUSION: According to the evaluation of research findings, job satisfaction and occupationalhealth management in the Agricultural Jihad Organization are relatively favorable among farmersin Zabol city. It was argued that there is a relationship between occupational health managementand job satisfaction, that the implementation of programs related to occupational safety and healthmanagement system such as Health and Safety Executive will promote health.

Read More BACKGROUND: Nursing is one of the most stressful occupations. Educational intervention regardingstress management can play an important role in reducing occupational stress among nurses Thepresent study aimed to determine the effectiveness of educational intervention on reducing oxidativestress caused by occupational stress in nurses: A health promotion approach in a hospital in westernIran.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present interventional study was performed in 2019 among92 nurses working at the Kosar Hospital located in the city of Sanandaj in the country of Iran.Occupational stress was evaluated using the Osipow Occupational Stress Questionnaire. Oxidativestress was measured by taking blood samples and measuring the enzymatic activity of superoxidedismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde, and catalase (CAT) using SOD, malondialdehyde (MDA), andCAT kits. Educational intervention was carried out in the second stage. Three months after theintervention, data were taken again.RESULTS: The results of the present study indicated that there was a significant difference inoccupational stress between before and after the educational intervention (P < 0.05). A significantreduction in MDA (P = 0.038) and SOD (P = 0.048) was observed after educational intervention, butthis was not the case for CAT (P = 0.592). There was no significant correlation between occupationalstress with oxidative stress parameters before and after the educational intervention (P < 0.05). Nosignificant difference in occupational stress was observed between men and women. Among theoxidative stress parameters under evaluation, MDA was higher among men compared to womenand this was statistically significant.CONCLUSIONS: Educational intervention regarding occupational stress is effective in reducingoxidative stress among nurses. The group meetings teach stress management to the participantsand enable them to better manage their stress by utilizing their own capabilities. Thus, attention tothis issue is vital in maintaining the mental and physical health of nurses and, in turn, improves thequality of care rendered.

Read More INTRODUCTION: Spread of novel coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus2 [SARS‑CoV‑2]) has become a global and pandemic crisis. Some measures such as excessiveuse of disinfectants, increased production of nonbiodegradable waste, and water pollution will bethe consequences of fighting against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19), which harms theenvironment. Due to the fact that these effects will be identified in the long term, they may beneglected in the current situation. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the environmentalchallenges caused by the SARS‑CoV‑2 pandemic crisis.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a review study conducted by search in databases, includingScopus, PubMed, and science direct until early May 2020. Keywords included “SARS‑CoV‑2,”“COVID‑19,” and “Environment.” Studies published in English and conducted in different countrieswere also selected for the analysis. The guidelines published by reputable organizations such asthe World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control prevention (CDC), and the Ministryof Health have also been used in this study.CONCLUSION: The results of this study have shown that the COVID‑19 virus, in addition to humandamage and mortality, also affects the environment, and the damages and losses resulting fromthis pandemic may be identified later. Water pollution, increasing chemical pollution in the air, andincreasing the production of nonbiodegradable waste are of these issues. For this purpose, it isrecommended that, in addition to trying to improve the control of this pandemic, other environmentalaspects in disinfection methods and disposal of dry and wet contaminated waste should be donemore accurately and based on standard protocols. Infectious waste, in addition to the problem ofstandard sanitation, will become a major challenge that pollutes the environment. Based on this, itcan be said that if home quarantine is observed voluntarily, in addition to reducing the risk of theSARS‑CoV‑2 and reducing the volume of visits to medical centers, it can be associated with anotherpositive achievement, which is the reduction in waste production and protection of the environment.

Read More INTRODUCTION: Some working and organizational conditions, such as psychological stress andshift work, are factors that threaten the health of staff working in health centers. These factors cancause fatigue in a long time. Fatigue reduces the ability to process information and decrease torespond to hazardous conditions and will affect the safety of the environment. Therefore, the purposeof this study was to determine the relationship between safety climate and occupational fatigue innurses working in Zabol city.METHODS: This cross‑sectional study was performed on 143 nurses working in educational hospitalsof Zabol in 2019. The proportional sampling method was used, and the Swedish OccupationalFatigue Questionnaire and the Nurses Safety Questionnaire were used for data collection. Datawere analyzed using independent t‑test, analysis of variance, Mann–Whitney, Kruskal–Wallis tests,and SPSS‑21 software.RESULTS: In the present study, 57.3% were women and 42.7% were men. The mean score ofoccupational fatigue was 85.09 ± 41.49, and the mean score of safety climate was 67.15 ± 12.73. Thereis a significant inverse relationship between occupational fatigue and safety climate. The comparisonof safety climate and its subscales between occupational and demographic variables showed that thescore of male supervisors’ attitude was 01.36 ± 2.41 while the score of female supervisors’ attitudewas 8.88 ± 2.61, and this difference was significant. Furthermore, cumulative burnout, the attitude ofsupervisors, and the safety climate were significantly different between different educational levels.CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that there is a relationship between occupationalfatigue and safety climate. Issues related to safety and risk factors in hospitals due to the high risk ofdisease outbreak and mortality, in addition to being economical, are important in terms of the humanaspect as well. In addition, the activity of nursing staff is more important compared to other groupsbecause of providing health care and communicating with patients; thus, more education about thesafety climate of the workplace environment in hospitals can reduce nurses’ fatigue.

Read More BACKGROUND: The empirical assessment of the health outcomes associated with migration causedby climate change is still unclear. However, health outcomes in the early stages are expected to besimilar to the health outcomes associated with refugees. The objective of the present study was asystematic review of the health effects of migration caused by climate change.METHODOLOGY: A systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Itemsfor Systematic Reviews and Meta‑Analyses guidelines. Online databases (PubMed, Scopus, Webof Science, and Google Scholar) were used to identify papers published that evaluated the healtheffects of migration caused by climate change. The search, article selection, and data extraction werecarried out by two researchers independently. All English‑language articles on the health effects ofmigration caused by climate change were included in this study.RESULTS: An analysis of the complex ways in which climate change influences populations canbe facilitated using a three‑class classification: compulsory displacement, resettlement planning,and migration. Subsequent to climate changes, other changes, and environmental deficiencies,compulsory displacement may occur in case of inadequacy of compatibility responses. A part ofmigration‑related health outcomes caused by climate change is from displacement from rural to urbanareas, especially in developing countries. There is significant documentation on health and livelihoodinequalities between migrant groups and host populations in developed countries.CONCLUSION: If climate change continues in its current direction, it is likely that the number ofrefugees and crises will increase in the coming decades. Although the domain and the extent of healthhazards caused by the displacement of the population associated with climate change cannot beclearly predicted, by reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, along with social and environmentaladaptation strategies, migration caused by climate change, health risks and its relevant crises canbe greatly reduced.
